The App That Clocks Me In Knows More About My Day Than My Manager Does
The old punch clock was a machine on a wall. It did one thing and it never asked for anything. The new one is an app that wants my location, my notifications and a picture of my face before it believes I showed up. Every update adds a permission and moves the button I actually use somewhere else. I am not against tracking the hours I am paid for. I am against being watched during the hours I am not. If the schedule is the deal, the clock should stop at the door. Mine follows me home in my pocket.4
