Be honest. You check the number next to your name more often than your bank balance. Then you post about how the number means nothing. The number is not community. It is a slot machine payout with extra steps. Log off, text one actual friend, be a real person for an hour.

Streaming Did Not Give Us More Movies, It Gave Us An Endless Shelf We Scroll Past

Streaming did not give US more movies. It gave US an endless shelf that we scroll past while something plays in the background and nobody admits they stopped watching twenty minutes in. I miss having nothing else to do. That was the whole trick. One screen, one tape, no second option. Now every movie is competing with my phone, and my phone is winning.

Karma Is Not A Law Of The Universe. It Is A Story We Tell So Randomness Hurts Less.

Bad things happen to good people constantly. Good things happen to awful people constantly. We simply notice the other pattern and give it a name. Karma is a bookkeeping system nobody has ever audited. You cannot observe it. You cannot measure it. It never arrives on schedule. Every time someone says karma got him, they mean they are pleased. Every time someone says her karma is coming, they mean they are angry. It is a feeling wearing the costume of physics. Here is the uncomfortable question. If you need the universe to punish the people who wronged you, is that morality or is it revenge with better branding? I think it is revenge, and I say that as someone who enjoys the feeling. Tell me I am wrong.

Be Honest, Does Your Group Chat Keep The Friendship Alive Or Just Delay The Funeral?

The chat is eleven years old. We send birthdays, memes and the occasional we should do this soon. If a friendship only ever lives in the chat, I am not sure it still counts as a friendship. I think it counts as a nice archive with notifications. Where do you land?
