AITA for calling my friends puritans for writing off Ali G?

Dinner with three mates and one of them says Ali G could never be made today because everyone's too soft. I told him that's the most boring sentence in comedy and to rewatch the interviews: the joke was always the interviewer being a moron, not the guest. He got up and left. He didn't argue back because he couldn't. I didn't say anything out of line.

The serious guests were the punchline plenty of times, not just Ali

Nah, the joke was the guest getting humiliated for being posh or foreign, and your mate walking out proves the point. 🙄

Sure the walkout was dramatic, but that just proves he had zero comeback, not that the guest was the punchline

Exactly. Dude folded like a cheap chair.

Calling that folding is generous. Walking out of dinner is not losing an argument, it is deciding the argument is not worth the table, and honestly the guy who pre-declares his mate a moron and then narrates it as a victory is exhausting at a dinner party

Congrats on winning the debate by making your mate leave, champ.
