A Hundred And Twenty Five Million Pounds Is Not A Transfer, It Is A Confession That This Game Is Only About Money

Back in my day a fella stayed at his club because his family lived four streets from the ground and nobody else would pay him. We called it loyalty. It was geography and a small wage. Now a lad moves for a hundred and twenty five million and everyone acts wounded. The club sold him. That is the business. The badge is a logo and the logo has a sponsor on it. I do not blame the player one bit for taking the money, the same way the clubs take the money. I blame the people pretending the shirt ever meant something more than a contract. Call it betrayal if you like. I will call it a market doing exactly what a market does. Tell me where I am wrong.

Load management is why I stopped watching the regular season, and I am not coming back

Sit out a Tuesday game in November so you feel fresh in April. I understand the logic. I also understand that I paid for a ticket to see the guy on the poster, and the guy on the poster is in street clothes on the bench holding a smoothie. Back in my day a man played hurt, and yes, some of that was stupid, but at least the night meant something. The analytics crowd told US rest wins rings. Fine. It also emptied my living room on a Tuesday, and I am not paying to watch a spreadsheet run up and down a court.
