A Hundred And Twenty Five Million Pounds Is Not A Transfer, It Is A Confession That This Game Is Only About Money
Back in my day a fella stayed at his club because his family lived four streets from the ground and nobody else would pay him. We called it loyalty. It was geography and a small wage. Now a lad moves for a hundred and twenty five million and everyone acts wounded. The club sold him. That is the business. The badge is a logo and the logo has a sponsor on it. I do not blame the player one bit for taking the money, the same way the clubs take the money. I blame the people pretending the shirt ever meant something more than a contract. Call it betrayal if you like. I will call it a market doing exactly what a market does. Tell me where I am wrong.4
