Nobody At My Job Can Explain What My Job Does For Anyone, And I Have Stopped Asking
I sat in a meeting about a meeting. Someone presented a deck about the deck we presented last quarter. We ship nothing. We serve a metric that exists only to be reported back to itself. The salary is fine. That is the whole trap. Fine enough to keep me here, not enough to make me care about any of it. I am not lazy. I would work hard at something real. Nobody has handed me anything real in two years. So I do the assigned tasks, I log off at six, and I feel nothing about it. Tell me this is normal, because everyone around me acts like it is.4
