Airbnb cleaning fees turned a good idea into a worse hotel

I am paying a hundred dollar cleaning fee and then being asked to strip the beds, run the dishwasher and haul the trash out. At that point I am not a guest, I am unpaid staff with a door code. Hotels solved this decades ago. One price, someone else cleans, nobody leaves a chore list taped to the fridge. The whole promise was that this would be cheaper. Now I scroll past four listings just to find the real number. The moment I have to do chores on vacation, I am booking a normal hotel. Do not at me.

Yeah, the chore list kills it. Airbnb finally started showing the full price up front, but who wants to strip beds on vacation? Hotels win.

If hosts can't charge for skipped chores, why tape the list?
