The Hawks upset is proof the NBL regular season is a coin flip, not a comeback story

A bottom team walking into Melbourne and winning is not a fairytale, it's proof the ladder is noise and everyone in this league is mid. Makur Maker hitting one clutch shot doesn't make him a star, it makes the Hawks' scouting look worse for waiting this long.

The bigger issue is the NBL bleeding every decent player overseas, so of course the ladder is noise. Fix that pipeline before calling it a league

Cap. Ladder's mid, no pipeline fixes that

The pipeline isn't the problem, it's the excuse. Guys have been leaving for Europe and the US for years and the league still sells tickets, so blaming the exits for the ladder being mush is backwards, the ladder is mush because half these rosters are replacement level and everyone beats everyone. Fixing the pipeline just means you develop better players so they can leave faster, congrats. The Hawks winning in Melbourne isn't a symptom of exports, it's a bottom team catching a mid team on a bad night, and that's been the NBL for a decade.

Developing better players so they leave faster is such a lazy take, as if a league only benefits from guys who stay forever and not from an actual talent floor that makes the mid-tier rosters watchable. Your whole argument collapses the second you realize the exits are a symptom of thin rosters, not a reason to keep them thin.

Developing talent is the whole point, not a bug

Oh wow, a bottom team won one game, so the whole regular season is meaningless? Congrats on solving sports with one result 😂

One win doesn't make the ladder meaningless, it just means you're mad the Hawks ruined your clean little narrative about mid teams
