Tipping is a subsidy for employers and I have stopped pretending it is generosity

The screen asks for twenty percent before anyone has brought me water. That is not a tip, that is a toll. A restaurant should pay its staff and put the real number on the menu. I tip well when I sit down and someone actually serves me. I do not tip for a pastry handed over a counter. People call me cheap. Fine, I have been called worse by better tippers.
